KRAKATAU resists rain. For living in a variety of environments, conditions, and different climates, we have created three categories of waterproof jackets. All fabrics for these jackets have been tested for waterproofness according to Japanese standard JIS L 1092:2009. The most technically-packed jackets offer a high level of waterproofness from 16,000 and up to 21,000 mm H₂O and a breathability rating up to 20,000 g/m² / 24 h. Additionally, jacket seams are taped to keep all water out.
KRAKATAU protects against cold. Down jackets and parkas with a mountaineering level of cold protection up to -30 C° are a great choice even for rainy winter days thanks to their waterproof fabric. Liner parkas have a removable inner jacket and can be transformed into a raincoat, a quilted jacket, or a waterproof padded coat, making it thoroughly adaptive to changing weather conditions. Softshell jackets with a breathable membrane layer and a fleece inner side are irreplaceable as a second layer.
KRAKATAU thinks eco-friendly. We are trying to make our jackets more and more sustainable. In some styles not only fabrics, but insulations and accessories are made from plastic bottles as well. We use a high-performance eco-friendly PFC-free water-repellent coating that contains no harmful compounds. Repreve insulation made of sea- and ocean-bound plastic and Sorona plant-based sustainable insulation both provide high levels of heat retention.
